Review for Olga's on Smith
Submitted by: Elke Reva Sudin on Nov 24th 2009
Nestled in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn, Olga's on Smith is a modern cafe restaurant befitting Smith Street's established trendy eateries. From the outside there is no indication that Olga's is catered toward a kosher crowd and the food is a great alternative for those looking outside the standard pizza and kugel restaurants. The walls are white and free of clutter. Large windows let in the natural light from outside. It is a great place to take a date or just relax during the day and the space can hold up to 100 guests for a simcha or special occasion.
The menu offers a healthy yet delectable lunch and light dinner. In the mood for a pan fried tilapia with wasabi aioli on artisan bread? Or how about a roasted red pepper and pesto panini with mozzarella? They're all served with an exotic side salad and chips and go great with a savory soup. Finish off with a home baked cookie and cafe drink. There are as many options for fish and dairy eating customers as there are for vegan ones. On the menu you will find an easy guide for which selections are veggie, vegan, gluten free and dairy free.
Olga's on Smith offer a variety of catering options for your function with their carefully put-together platters. The restaurant is also very technologically savvy, with a Facebook page and group showing off the latest specials and menu additions. Ultimately, the restaurant is a great addition to Brownstone Brooklyn's eclectic bistros and is especially welcome due to the lack of kosher eateries in the neighborhood. They offer delivery throughout the area, call to see if you are within their region.
Close to the Carrol Street stop on the F and G trains in Brooklyn.

Just found out about this great new Kosher ( meat) restaurant in Evanston. Understand that they just opened a few weeks ago, but WOW! The food, the interior...BOTH GREAT! Just over the Chicago border and well worth the short drive! And they even have parking!!! Such a bonus!

Mosaica
Submitted by: Leo S on Nov 18th 2009
This is probably one of the best fine dining Kosher Restaurants in the New York Metro Area. The Chef has a French Cuisine background that shows. Portions are generous. We have been going to Mosaica for many years now, and the place has improved significantly. I have dined in many of New York Kosher restaurants and I will rank Mosaica at the very top!

Levy's Kosher Italian
Submitted by: jss on Nov 16th 2009
My husband and I were running late due to traffic and we called and asked the receptionist what was good and to order that for us so that it would be ready when we got there. The receptionist went through a few dishes until we found the ones we wanted and she had them ready for us when we got to the restaurant so that we were able to get to our evening's destination on time. The food was terrific and the portions very large (we both took doggie bags home and had another meal from them). We're going to go back with the entire family b/c the prices are reasonable and the food really good!

Morty's Steakhouse
Submitted by: Nate R on Nov 16th 2009
I would love to know how they claim to have the only Glatt Kosher Filet Mignon in North America but ALSO have Lobster Tails and Crabcakes on the menu at the same time?!? I am hopeful that they have found the only Kosher Lobsters and Crabs in order to do so. I am in Montreal at least 2-3 times a year and would love to add this restaurant to our list of places to go, but would need to have clairty on this issue.

Well, as an avid Mortys client, finally a great kosher restaurant in Montreal, I can tell you that the seafood is MOCK! Wasn't that pretty obvious from the fact that they are under the supervision of the Vaad in Montreal and have a listing on this website? So they are in fact Glatt Kosher.

Fumio Sushi Steak and House
Submitted by: Yochi Kaplan on Nov 1st 2009
We ate there Thursday night and it was an amazing experience. I have never experienced (other than my grandmother, mother and wife's and I say that only out of respect) such delicacies. The sushi, salads and soups were beyond expectation. For an entrée, I had the fillet. It was perfectly served medium. A two-inch 12 ounce tower of prime beef. Amazing! I had a hard time getting it away from my wife, but that gave me the opportunity to taste her short ribs. I usually don’t like short ribs because they are too fatty, but not these. They were soft and sweet. The dessert was apple strudel and ice cream. With soft drinks the total was just over $100.00. All I can say, I hope the community does their part to keep them in business. I want to be able to eat there many more times in my life and I plan to live a long time.

The food at the restaurant is very tasty, but the kosher meals they cater on VIA Rail trains are very poorly presented, with no appetizer and no proper dessert. I recommend the restaurant, but if travelling from Montreal on the train, pack a lunch.

absolutely awful experience. The service was so bad, the food was even worse. And everything was pretty expensive. The worst meal I have ever had. I was so disgusted with the place that i left before dessert, knowing me, dessert is the main part of my meal...
how is this place still open?

Food was decent but the service needs to be firmed up. The waiter nearly forced us to choose something that we did not want. The main course was served while the appetizer dishes were still on the table. The portions could have been larger.
