The Orchid
Submitted by: Melinda Veliosa on Jun 29th 2007
I recently dined at The Orchid Restaurant in Metuchen , NJ and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! My husband and I stopped in to get a quick sandwich and decided to sit and try it out after seeing the selection on their menu. We had the Moroccan cigars for appetizer and I had a lamb kabob special and my husband a Ribeye steak - all on recommendation of our very helpful waitress. It was fantastic!!

This restaurant serves fish. Fish is an animal and not a plant-based food. This restaurant should not be called "vegetarian"!

Try Colbeh (Persian food) on Main Street or Skewers Steakhouse on Union Turnpike. Both are pretty formal.

East Side Kosher Deli in Denver is about 30 minutes away. Check them out on our site.

Reply #2 submitted by: Alvin on Jun 11th 2007
Thanks Elan -- When I've been to Denver, I've gone to East Side -- it's actually pretty Shvach -- I wouldn't really recommend it to others - but for certain, it's more like 45min-1hr from boulder, and I was hoping not to have to schlep in and out of town.

There's not much else - only other choice is La Toscana and it's a little further than ESKD.
La Toscana - 12200 E Cornell ave, Aurora, CO 80014 Phone: (303) 369-1573

kosher in philadelphia not shomer shabbas
Submitted by: michelle on Jun 4th 2007
anyone know of any kosher restaurants in philadelphia which are not shomer shabbos
Reply to this message
Reply #1 submitted by: Tracey on Jun 14th 2007
The Chinese vegan restaurants in Chinatown are kosher certified and are not shomer shabbes. I was a bit surprised that none of them were listed here: Kingdom of Vegeterians on 11th between Arch and Race, Harmony on 9th between Arch and Race, Singapore on Race between 10th and 11th.

I have been to this rest. on four occassions. Each time, the service was deplorable, no manager present, and the ambience was loud and the waiters were high school kids joking and luaghing. The food was mediocre and overpriced.

Shabbat meals on upper west side

Is anyone aware of any restaurant open for prepaid shabbat meals (both dinner and lunch) in Manhattan. We would prefer upper west side but could make just about any nice location work. This is for a pre-wedding shabbat family get together but we are from out of town.

Lucky's Diner
Submitted by: Marissa on May 28th 2007
It's really hard to find a kosher restaurant in this area that isn't just simple food. I love the gourmet places, but sometimes its nice to have a diner. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the food was great too. It was also really nice to see that the prices weren't bad either. The owner as well as the waitresses were really sweet. I loved it there and I've already told my friends about it. Also, I'm thrilled about the hours. I hope this place sticks around for a long time to come.
