The Purple Pear in Monsey Submitted by: Ephraim Rosenberg on Aug 3rd 2007 I recently went to the Purple Pear and ordered, not my usual fettuccini alfredo but, the Fish and Chips instead. Instead of the chips, I was given the choice of having Mashed Potatoes as a substitute. I just wanted to say that I was amazed with every mouthful how delicious it was. The fish was cooked to perfection and I honestly have never had mashed potatoes that taste as good theirs, and I've eaten a lot of mashed potatoes in my lifetime. Boruch Hashem that I live in Monsey so that I can order this unbelievable dish whenever I feel like. The Purple Pear truly has it all, nice atmosphere, clean, fast service, and most importantly unbelievably delicious food. And if you don't feel like dining in, you can order your food, and then go next door to Lishkas HaSofer and shop for seforim while you wait. The Purple Pear will give you a beeper that notifies you when your food is ready.

Park East Grill to close this week! Submitted by: Elan Kornblum, Publisher on Jul 30th 2007 To Our Valued Customers,
It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of Park East Grill.
-Our Last Lunch & Dinner Meals Will Be Served On Thursday August 2, 2007
-Our Last Meal Ever Will Be The Shabbat Dinner on Friday August 3, 2007
Our building was recently sold, and we have accepted a buyout offer from our new landlord for the eleven years remaining on our lease. Since the managing partner of Park East Grill will be starting the full time MBA program at Columbia University next month, we have decided against the lengthy and timely process of building and acquiring the necessary permits for a new location.
The catering division of Park East Grill will continue to operate at Park East Kosher located at 1623 Second Avenue between East 84th and East 85th streets with the same executive chef. The catering division is available to cater all types of functions from 2 to 2000 people, as well as provide certified Glatt Kosher Meals on china or disposable plates for anyone attending a function at a non-kosher function. For catering inquiries, please call Murray or Michael at 212-737-9800.
Thank You for your patronage over the past four years.

Lo Mein recipe Submitted by: avrumi on Jul 19th 2007 Hi:
I enjoy Lo Mein from China Glat, Moshi Moshi, and China Mehadrin. When I tried to cook Lo Mein myself, it always tastes completely different than in the stores. Could you please tell me what I might be doing wrong, or could you please give me a recipe so that it would taste similar to theirs?
Thanks.
Reply #1 submitted by: Alex Dumass on Jul 19th 2007 Use MSG.
Reply #2 submitted by: Moshi Moshi on Jul 21st 2007 Thank you for visiting our restaurant, we have a dozen of noodle dishes but Lo Mein is surely the most popular choice. Creating a delicious Lo Mein is fairly simple however it requires appropriate ingredients & utensils. Boil "Golden Bowl" noodles for 10 min, rinse under cold water and sprinkle a drop of veg. oil to keep the noodles from sticking together. In a wok add some vegetables, noodles, soy sauce & (sake)rice wine. Sauté for couple of minutes & enjoy!
P.S. Sautéing in a regular cooking pan rather than in a Chinese wok might explain variations in taste.
Hope to see You back soon for dinner or lunch at Moshi Moshi!
Gary, Owner

Thank You! (Wolf & Lamb Steakhouse) Submitted by: Park & Denise Warne on Jul 9th 2007 Dear Sirs,
My wife and I, on one of our recent recreational trips to New York, stopped, quite by accident, at your delicatessen to have dinner on June 14th of this year. I wanted to share our impressions with you and your staff.
When we arrived, it was quite crowded but we were seated at the end of a row of tables next to a group of talkative young people. The host was very friendly and helpful and we got the impression that almost everyone except us had been there many times. There were families, young people, and groups engaged in lively conversation and the atmosphere was engaging and positive. The food was excellent and, in my younger days, I probably could have finished it all.
We wanted to thank you for an excellect dining experience and to congratulate you on your ability to create a circumstance where food, fun, family, and faith can be shared in such a rewarding way.
You can be assured that your fine facility will be a regular feature of our trips to the city and I looked forward to our next visit. Best regards,
Park and Denise Warne
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
